 INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER MODELS: WHAT CAN SWITZERLAND LEARN?


Case studies: Israel / Finland / USA / Switzerland

The TECHNOPARK - Alliance Forum presented in Zurich on March 6 different models of technology transfer that proved successful on the international level. In this regard, the following were the major targets:


Mr. Yigal Erlich

 Planning and realization of technology transfer in the respective country
 Embedding technology transfer into the
existing political setup
 Showing which entities are of primary interest and how they interact
 Presentation of various strategies for success
 Lessons learned

 

Mr. Yigal Erlich

Yigal Erlich, the founder of the Yozma-Group and father of the Israeli venture capital industry put his contribution under the motto: "Technology Transfer in Israel: A critical part of the Ecosystem?". He presented this Ecosystem as a set of Government and Business activities that enable the formation and growth of new science based technology companies that emerge from universities, research institutions, entrepreneurs and spin-offs. It includes Funds, institutions, Lawyers, Accountants, Technology Consultants, Research Labs etc. A universe of people and companies that develop the economy.

Thomas von Waldkirch, the President of the Technopark-Foundation for Switzerland, Dr. Rajeev Narayan, the Associate Director of the Kenan Institute of Engineering, Technology Sciences at NC State University of North Carolina for the USA and Eero Holstila, the Director of the Economic Department of the City of Helsinki for Finland were the other speakers. Nearly 100 participants followed the presentations and the following podium discussion.
